Jordan Ellison's on the road again to take on Louis Fielding at Villa Park

The 20-year-old will fight at Aston Villa football stadium against Midlands prospect Louis Fielding over four rounds.

It is the second Saturday in a row the former Horden Sportsman ABC star has travelled to the backyard of his opponent.

Last week the odds were stacked against him when he fought Chris Conwell in Preston, destroying his rival’s 100% record in the process.

Ellison won all four rounds and almost stopped the 29-year-old at the Guild Hall and head Gus Robinson Developments coach Peter Cope is hoping for more of the same this evening at Villa Park.

Fielding is just shy of the 100% mark, having lost once out of seven appearances, ironically at the same Holte Suite he will box in tonight.

“Yes, we are on away territory again, but it’s another winable fight if the Jordan of last Saturday turns up,” said Cope.

“Jordan has no qualms about being on the road, he wants to build his experience and he wants to be busy.

“He’s proper impressed me since he joined us at the back end of last year.

“His previous coach was moving abroad and he asked if he could join us at Gus Robinson Developments.

“Jordan has been a model pro and done everything we’ve asked of him.

“That was the first time i’d seen him fight last week and he was outstanding.

“He’s really motivated and obviously upbeat after last week so we’re going there in good form.”

The Seaham boxer has won three of his five bouts as a pro and if he can repeat last Saturday’s intensity, he can make it four.

It is the start of a hectic period for the Gus Robinson Developments camp.

Next Saturday, Richard O’Neill will make his second appearance for the team when he fights on the undercard of the Tommy Ward v Robbie Turley British super-banatamweight title eliminator at Houghton.

O’Neill made a winning debut last October when he outpointed Scott Hillman in Gateshead and Cope has been impressed with the 29-year-old in his time at the West View Road gym.

“I’m over the moon with Richard,” he said. “He’s really dedicated to the pro game and while he’s gone professional relatively late, he can have a good run at it.

“He’s fit, throws a lot of punches and is good to watch.”

The team then have two boxers in action in Gateshead on Friday, March 18, when Daniel Cope challenges for the vacant Northern Area welterweight title against hometown man Tom Whifield.

Gus Robinson team mate Billy Snaith is in action on the undercard of the same Steve Wraith-promoted bill.
