Craig Hignett led the side following Matthew Bates' dismissal

Led by caretaker manager Craig Hignett, the hosts took a first half lead through Liam Noble and looked to be in control. But they were dealt a sucker-punch late on, when two late goals from the Daggers condemned Pools to a seventh consecutive defeat. Despite that, there were some standout performances from a number of Hartlepool's players - although some failed to impress. Our man Liam Kennedy has dished out his player ratings from the game, so click through the pages below to see how he felt Pools fared:

Another day where he had very little to do. A couple of claims in the first 45 was his afternoon's work until the last two minutes... 6
Looked assured in the centre. This lad could well have a decent future at Pools... 7
Much improved performance guiding his two younger defenders through the encounter... 7

Did the simple things well defensively. And brought it out well when needed... 7
Back at right wing-back, so his influence was lessened in an attacking sense but got forward well... 6
One or two efforts at goal and some searching passes. Much improved on recent performances... 7
Back to his best again, more than justified his recall. Played a little further up the park, despite being back in a midfield two. A goal and hit the post... 8
His height made him an aerial threat at the back post again. Played with a bit more confidence and aggression. When he went off, all hell broke loose... 7
Outstanding. Found space between the lines at will. Man of the match. More of the same next week, please... 9
Stuck on the right-sided centre-back of the Daggers' backline very deliberately and got a fair bit of joy in behind... 7
Looked comfortable linking with old partner James. Fitted back in perfectly. A couple of half chances... 6
(For Josh Hawkes 77) - Brought on to sure things up in the middle. Did just that... 6
(For Niko Muir 86) ...N/A
(For Mark Kitching 88) ...N/A
