Man rescued by firefighters after blaze breaks out in kitchen of Hartlepool home

A man was rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out in his kitchen in the early hours of today.

Cleveland Fire Brigade was called to Lawson Road in Seaton Carew at 12.12am today, Thursday, January 28, with two appliances from Hartlepool Stranton Fire Station sent to the scene, with another joining from Billingham.

They were able to help the man from the house and gave him oxygen while a team of paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service travelled to the incident.

The medics then carried out an assessment and he did not attend hospital.

Meanwhile, two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent into the house and used a hose reel to put out the fire.

A positive pressure ventilation system was then used to clear the property of smoke and fumes.

The crews left the incident at 1.24am, with the man the only person in the house at the time of the fire.
