Middlesbrough boss reveals that Chelsea, Newcastle and Wolves target could leave the club

Tony Pulis has issued an update on Adama Traore's future

Tony Pulis has admitted that he could be powerless to prevent Adama Traore leaving the club this summer.

The Spaniard has been linked with several high-profile clubs this summer - including Newcastle, Chelsea, Wolves, Huddersfield and PSG.

Such interest comes after a fine season which saw the former Barcelona youngster play a starring role as Pulis’ side reached the play-off semi-final.

Interest from some of the larger clubs has wained in recent weeks, although there are still a number of potential suitors.

Reports over the wekeend suggest that newly-promoted Wolves are in pole position and could be set to swoop in an £18m deal. Hudderfield, too, remain keen on a deal.

And Pulis has revealed that his influence on any move could be minimal, with the Boro boss expecting bids to come in for the club’s prize asset.

Although a deal is not thought to be imminent, Pulis said that a large bid may be accepted for a player that he highly values.

When asked if a deal was near, Pulis told the Teesside Gazette: “No, no, no... well we can’t fight it off, if it’s gonna happen it’s gonna happen so he’s a terrific lad and someone who I’ve got the time for and a lot of respect for.

“Obviously I’ve got a soft spot for the kid.”
