Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis reveals his transfer frustration after unsuccessful offers

Tony Pulis has spoken once again of his frustration in the transfer market - with the Middlesbrough boss warning that a lack of new additions could see his side slide down the table.

Pulis has so far been left disappointed in his quest for new recruits, with the Boro manager keen to strengthen after losing several key players during the summer transfer window.

“We’ve done absolutely brilliant (so far)," he said, speaking to the Teesside Gazette.

"The players that are here have worked very, very hard and got some great results, but over a season of 46 games - and if you throw the cups in as well - you need a squad of players to see you through.

Reports this week suggested that Middlesbrough had been unsuccessful with a bid to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic, while the Mo Besic saga continues to rage on as Championship rivals Leeds continue to be linked with a swoop.

"We’re trying to do it," Pulis admitted.

"We’ve been trying to do it this week and unfortunately we’ve not been able to get anyone in again.

"Obviously we’ve got a couple of weeks to go but we need to do it, we need to get players in.

"I hope we can do it, the players are there it’s just going out and getting it done really.

“I’ll settle for something at the moment, never mind everything.

"We need to strengthen in all areas, I think that’s important. Centre-half we are fine but other areas we need to strengthen."
