Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis: We did not create enough against Aston Villa

Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis was left to rue a lack of cutting edge after they failed to register a single shot on target against Aston Villa.

Pulis felt his players gave their all in the stalemate at Villa Park but admits they were lacking when it came to creating the chances needed to breach a stubborn Villa defence.

Villa will now go on to face Fulham in the Championship play-off final after beating Boro 1-0 over two legs.

Pulis said: “We have had opportunities but we have to change those opportunities into chances and goals.

“Over the two legs we have had really good spells in those games but we haven’t created as many chances or taken them when we have.

“Villa are stubborn, well organised and experienced. It was always going to be tough.

“The players have worked so hard though, they have given everything.”
