The 19-year-old has come through the youth ranks at Boro and made his first-team bow under Garry Monk last season.

Tavernier featured quite regularly under Monk but the arrival of Tony Pulis signalled a loan move toMK Dons, where he made eight appearances.

But this is arguably Tavernier's greatest experience to date after Southgate has reportedly called upon him to train with the England senior squad following injuries to Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana.

Southgate, who has talked openly about a diminishing talent pool, has been keen to integrate younger players when the opportunity arises.

And while Tavernier wont feature in England's UEFA Nations League opener against Spain this weekend, this is a great chance for the Boro youngster to catch the eye of Southgate.
