The cause of the outage is believed to be an “unexpected problem” with an electricity cable, according to Northern Powergrid.

In a statement on its website, a Northern Powergrid spokesman said: “The power cut affecting your property has been caused by an unexpected problem with the electricity cable that serves your area.

“Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible.”

It is thought that the power supply will be restored to the affected homes by 5pm on Thursday, February 6, the company added.
