New date for Hartlepool United's League Two clash with Carlisle United

Ronnie Moore will now take his Pools squad to face Carlisle United at Brunton Park on Tuesday, April 5.

Pools were originally due to travel to Cumbria over Christmas but the game was postponed after Storm Desmond hit the area and caused severe flooding.

The game was then originally re-scheduled for February but it has now been pushed back following a request from Carlisle to alter the fixture.

The game will kick-off at 7.45pm.

Carlisle's club secretary, Sarah McKnight, said: "We'd like to thank the Football League and all of the other clubs involved for their co-operation and understanding with these fixture rearrangements.

"We'd particularly like to thank Hartlepool who have agreed, at our request, to move our home fixture for a second time back to the later April date.

"Our reasoning behind that is that it is going to be one of our biggest fixtures of the season and we want as many facilities as possible back up and running following the devastating effects of Storm Desmond.

"The earlier date for the Hartlepool fixture has now been used to accommodate the AFC Wimbledon away game."

Meanwhile, Pools groundstaff have some extra help in their preparation for Saturday’s League Two match with Wycombe Wanderers at Victoria Park.

Groundsman Dave Brown has this week taken delivery of brand new frost covers, arriving just in time as the cold weather hits.

He said: "The new frost covers are much easier to handle than the others we have.

"They will be quicker for us to get on and off the pitch and they should offer protection up to -5 or -6.

"With them arriving this week, we've got them out to cover the area of the pitch that is in the shadow of the Town End goal.

"That area is in the shadow throughout winter and is most susceptible to frost.

"With the cold weather at the moment, it’s given us an early chance to try out the new covers which we've put on just as a precaution."
