Billingham Town Centre, owned and managed by St Modwen, is celebrating the opening of its latest fully-licensed café D’uccellos, which serves traditional Italian trattoria cuisine and also delivers to customers at home.

The new trattoria is owned by Billingham locals Clive Bird, Corrine Hughes and Beverley Bird, and has already seen a lot of interest from customers in Billingham and beyond.

Clive Bird said: “We have always wanted to open a traditional Italian trattoria which serves firm favourites such as pasta, pizza and gelato. Billingham Town Centre is an ideal place to open our business as we benefit from St. Modwen’s flexible approach to lettings as well as being right in the heart of the local community.”

Andrew Wilkinson, director at Connect Property North East, said: “It’s great to see new businesses coming into the town alongside the traditional national and regional retailers such as Argos and Aldi.

“Billingham has historically enjoyed a localised but very loyal customer base which continues to help the town centre retail and leisure occupiers thrive.
“The broadening of uses and new lettings being secured over the last 18 months in the town is drawing in new visitors and shoppers.”

Tony Donnelly, Billingham town centre manager, said: “We work hard to attract a range of independent and national businesses, so it is a pleasure to see customers in Billingham being given greater choice.”
