Occupants of Hartlepool house safe and accounted for after early morning fire

Emergency services rushed to a house fire amid reports of people still inside the property.

Three fire engines from Hartlepool and Billingham attended the incident in Wilson Street, off Mulgrave Road, Hartlepool, at about 9.30am on May 11.

A number of police officers also attended the scene shortly afterwards.

There were fears that people may have been inside the house but police have since confirmed that everyone was accounted for and was safe.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said on Tuesday: “At 9.51am we were called to a report of a fire at a home in Wilson Street, Hartlepool where persons were believed to be present.

"All persons are now accounted for and safe.”

The fire brigade used two hose reel jets, six breathing apparatus and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

From the outside it appeared the terraced home’s front upstairs bedroom had been most badly affected by the fire.

The fire was out by 10.45am and all emergency services had left the scene by midday.
