JILL MORTIMER: Cash boost will help revitalise our town and its landscape

This week has seen the first of what will become regular surgeries.
I will be lobbying to make sure this money is well invested, providing practical connections between our town centre and the marina as well as re-imaging the town’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.I will be lobbying to make sure this money is well invested, providing practical connections between our town centre and the marina as well as re-imaging the town’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.

These sessions allow me to connect with the people of Hartlepool and the issues and concerns specific to them.

If you would like to make an appointment for a future surgery, these will be advertised in due course.

We are not always able to solve issues, but please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to raise any concerns you have.

Working closely with local authorities to better our town is one of my priorities moving forward - so I was glad to join Steve Turner, Cleveland’s Police and Crime Commissioner this week to discuss how the Safer Streets Fund is having a positive impact here in Hartlepool.

Making our streets and communities safer and addressing anti-social behaviour is a vital part of my plan to improve the shared spaces within our town.

As I am sure you are aware, this week we have secured the maximum £25 million for the Town Fund - this money will ensure a host of improvements can be made to our town.

As your MP, I will be lobbying to make sure this money is well invested, providing practical connections between our town centre and the marina as well as re-imaging the town’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.

The impact of this investment will be wide spread.

It will help to revitalise our town and its landscape, making the area more inviting for visitors and attractive to new businesses.

It will also provide a much needed improved outlook for our local community.

It is essential that this money is well-spent - the long awaited development will benefit local people and businesses while providing skilled, well-paid jobs.

This Town Deal embodies the ambition I have for Hartlepool - the first step has been taken, but there is lots more to do and I will continue to work with government to secure even more investment.

On Tuesday the Mail reported how Jill Mortimer responded to the news.

She said: “This is not the end and I will continue to work with government to secure even more investment for Hartlepool”.
