Majority in our poll say it was right for Harry and Meghan to lose HRH titles

The couple will also no longer formally represent the Queen. This follows their announcement that they will step down as senior royals and divide their time between the Canada and the UK.

We asked in our Facebook poll: “Are the Royal Family right to strip Harry and Meghan of their HRH titles?” At the time of writing almost 700 people had voted, with 77% saying yes and 23% no. Here is some of the reaction.

Kim Fryer said: “I don't know which one to decide because in a way, yes, because Harry wants to live like common people, he wants to do whatever common people do wants to sleep with common people, sleep with common people like Meg.

“But then no, because he was born into royalty he should remain royalty no matter what.”

Pauline Dixon disagreed, saying: “They don’t want to live like commoners at all. They want to mix with the A listers and make millions!”

Pete Spence asked: “What difference does this make? The world knows who they are and their lineage will always come to the fore when people judge their worth.”

John Elliott thinks: “When Her Majesty passes away they should disband the lot of them. Get proper jobs. Do something useful instead of living on lavish benefits all your privileged life.”

Karl Schut said bluntly: “Unless there's an extra bank holiday involved somewhere, I couldn't care less.”
