82-year-old man seriously injured in three car crash

Crash investigators are asking for help as they piece together what happened in a three-car collision which left a pensioner with serious injuries.

Officers from Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, yesterday, Thursday, June 18.

The collision happened at around 3.50pm on Wynyard Road, off Durham Road, near the entrance to Wynyard Woodland Park.

It involved a white Suzuki Alto, a red Ford Fiesta and a black Ford Focus.

The 82-year-old driver of the Suzuki was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees suffering from broken ribs and a broken wrist.

He remains in hospital today as he continues to receive treatment.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may have dashcam footage of it, is asked to contact Pc Neil Armstrong from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 97924.
