Artists invited to be part of new Hartlepool exhibition inspired by the General Strike

Gallery bosses in Hartlepool are inviting artists to be part of an upcoming new exhibition.

Hartlepool Borough Council is inviting submissions for their display to be held in May and June at Hartlepool Art Gallery exploring the theme of resilience.

Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the General Strike, the exhibition seeks to celebrate resilience in all forms, such as personal survival through adversity, community bonds, adapting to an environment or psychological recovery.

One lucky artist will also win the chance to hold their own solo show later.

The spring exhibition is open to artists aged 18 or over who have a link with Hartlepool.

Artwork can be in any medium that can be wall-mounted and been produced in the last two years.

Cllr Karen Oliver said: “Hartlepool has a proud history of resilience and we’re looking for artworks that explore and capture endurance, adaptation and strength in the face of challenge.”

Applications must be received by March 1. For full details visit www.culturehartlepool.com/exhibiting.
