Chance for public to salute Hartlepool Armed Forces community at National Museum of Royal Navy
People are invited to show their support for Hartlepool’s proud Armed Forces community at an annual event.
National Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday, June 27, and will be marked in Hartlepool at the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
The annual celebration will see the town’s local Reserve Army units, cadet detachments and veterans come together for a day of activities.
Organised by the Hartlepool Armed Forces Liaison Group, the day will include a short parade, stalls, displays of military equipment and live music.

The opening ceremony will also include a presentation on Hartlepool’s new £1m Valour Centre which was announced earlier this year.
Chair of Hartlepool Armed Forces Liaison Group Mike Facchini said: “Armed Forces Day is a national event designed to celebrate the links between the community and the Armed Forces.
“We have got a number of events planned with bands doing performances so it should be a nice day with plenty of things to see and do.
“We will also be introducing the team who are leading on Hartlepool’s new government-funded Valour Centre who will be there on the day.”

The event takes place in the car park of the National Museum of the Royal Navy from 11am to 4pm.
Detachments from Hartlepool’s Reserve Army units and the town’s three service cadet units will be supporting the day.
There will also be display stands from town veterans associations and veteran’s charity SSAFA. And visiting exhibits will be provided by the Armed Forces Bikers.
Live music will be provided by the Hartlepool Brass Band and local charity Creative Minds CIC that provides young people with the opportunities to develop their musical and creative talents.
Entry to the day is free and a market will be held at the same time.
The National Museum of the Royal Navy will also be offering free admission to service personnel and veterans, on presentation of suitable ID or Veterans Card.
Meanwhile, as part of Armed Forces Week, the Hartlepool Branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding a stall in the foyer of the University Hospital on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
