Child taken to hospital following collision in Hartlepool’s Winterbottom Avenue

The incident involving a Ford Focus took place in Winterbottom Avenue, near its junction with Warren Road, Hartlepool, at around 6.30pm on Friday, October 14.

The North East Ambulance Service dispatched one ambulance crew and a specialist paramedic and the child was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.

Cleveland Police said: “Police were called to a collision between a 12-year-old child and a Ford Focus at around 6.30pm on Friday evening.

"It happened on Winterbottom Avenue, Hartlepool, near the Iceland store. The child sustained a fractured leg and grazes and was detained in the University Hospital of North Tees.”

In a separate incident, another person was also rushed to hospital following a “serious collision” on the A19 between the A179 and A689 turn offs, which took place at around 9pm on the same night and resulted in the southbound carriageway being closed overnight.
