Devastated family pay tribute to 'loved son', 22, after body found near Grayfields in Hartlepool

A devastated family have paid tribute to a loved 22-year-old as a police officers investigating his death continue to appeal to the public for information.

Detectives launched an investigation into the death of a 22-year-old man after his body was found in an area next to Wiltshire Way, in Hartlepool, near Grayfields shortly before 5pm on Monday, May 18.

The man has now been named as Ryan Magee and his grieving family are calling for anyone with any information about what happened to the beloved son to contact police.

In a touching statement, his family said: “Ryan was a loved son and brother, grandson and nephew. We are devastated by his death.

“Ryan was the eldest in the family and the only boy. He was always protective towards his sisters and mum and known for being cheeky. Sleep tight Ryan now you’re reunited with little nana, granda and Michael.

“We are heartbroken thinking about what has happened to him and would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police.”

Police are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding Ryan’s death and are appealing for information from anyone with sightings or dealings with him between Wednesday, May 13 and Monday, May 18.

Cleveland Police initially said they were treating the man’s death as unexplained however yesterday, (Wednesday, May 20) the force confirmed there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
