Plans are well underway for Alice House Hospice’s sixth Colour Run which sees participants complete a sponsored run and get showered with mutlti-coloured powder paint around the course.

It will be one of the Hartlepool hospice’s first large-scale fundraising events since they had to be put on hold last year due to coronavirus restrictions.

A new venue will host the Colour Run this year taking place at West Hartlepool rugby club’s ground, in Catcote Road, instead of the promenade at Seaton Carew.

It is due to take place on Sunday, July 4, and many places have already been snapped up with only a limited number of spaces available to book.

The run will be held completely on grass with some new obstacles for runners to negotiate, but the usual stations where participants will be blasted with brightly coloured paint will still be present.

Alice House community fundraiser Janice Forbes said: “We are so glad to be able to organise our Colour Fun Run this year.

"With a different venue and the addition of some obstacles together with a fun day, this will be a great opportunity for friends and family to do something exciting.

"We are very grateful to sponsors who have joined us so far, Exwold Technology, Censis and iPRO Hydrate and to West Hartlepool Rugby Club for hosting the event.”

Alice House says the event will provide a massive boost to their lost fundraising from the previous year which ran to an estimated £1.5million.

It will start at 1pm and depending on numbers and current government restrictions organisers say they may need to stagger start times to ensure the safety of everyone.

Afterwards people will be able to enjoy a fun day with various entertainment, activities, attractions and stalls open from noon until 6pm.

Entry to the Colour Run is £15 for adults, £10 children under 16, and £40 for a family of two adults and two children.

Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
