Kelly Tipp, a frontline North East Ambulance Service worker, and pet Labrador Skye have signed up for Dementia UK’s Dog Walking Challenge to do 100 kilometres (62) miles over the course of the month.
She hopes to raise lots of cash for the charity at a time when people living with dementia have been impacted by the coronavirus lockdown.

"The vet says Skye needs to lose a few pounds and we’ve all put a bit on during lockdown so it will be good for me as well.
"With what’s going on at the moment it’s heartbreaking. A lot of elderly people in care homes have dementia or Alzheimer’s and they’re not seeing their families.
"I just think if I can help that little bit by putting something good into the cause then that's my bit.”

But Kelly, married to care in the community worker Paul, added: "We’re looking forward to it.
“I think we’re going to smash it. No matter what the weather is we will be there.”
Kelly will wear a special T-shirt provided by Dementia UK while Skye will sport a doggy bandanna.

Kelly, who has previously shaved her head for Macmillan Cancer, described four-year-old Skye as her shadow even taking her to work with her once.
"I left her in the station and everyone loved her,” she said. “The kids absolutely love her.
"She’s got a beautiful temperament and loves people.”
Dementia UK says every step taken and pound raised through March’s challenge will help to ensure that they can be there for families and carers in their time of need.
