Ary Ahmed, who runs Ary’s in Murray Street in the town, has not only ensure those living on the streets or most in need get a smart new look, but also made sure they were fed, got a hot drink and left with a few pounds in their hand.

The 32-year-old was helped out by an assistant during the session, with his friend heading out to check around the town to see if they could find anyone to invite in to take advantage of his good deed.

Ary, who sent his thanks to all those who helped him in his gesture, said: “It’s just because it’s Christmas and I didn't want anybody to miss out beforehand and wanted to make sure they had their haircut.

“Some come in and we’ll also give them some money and make sure they have some food.

“I am happy to do it for free and there are times when I don’t charge when I know they are struggling and I know some people are having a hard time because of depression.

“It’s ok for them to just come in for a cup of tea.

“I 100% want to show them that someone cares for them and that’s a nice feeling for them, and for me too.”

“It’s nice to see them feeling a bit better after.

“I wanted to give something back to the town.”
