Youngsters at a football club have helped collect more than £8,000 for a regional charity in a 30-day fundraising challenge.

Seaton Carew FC’s under seven team took part in a litter picking campaign on Seaton Carew Beach to raise money for Cash for Kids North East.

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity which helps children in need across the UK.

All money raised by the club will go towards buying new equipment and branded clothing as well as towards future tournaments and summer camps.

Every penny raised as a team stays within the team and the club has the opportunity to receive a match funding from Cash for Kids of up to £2,500.

Adrian said: “From my perspective, it’s all about getting the best equipment for the kids.”
