Hartlepool’s Nasir mosque welcomed visitors from the wider community as it held its annual open day.

Around 70 guests from across Hartlepool, and further afield including Durham and Darlington, attended Saturday’s event aimed at promoting understanding of Islam.

The mosque, in Brougham Terrace, held an exhibition about Islam, a Qur’anic exhibition and visitors were invited to try delicious snacks.

Tahir Selby, the Imam of the Mosque, said: “It was very pleasing to see so many guests come to our Open Day and find out more about Islam.

"There was a constant flow throughout the day and some good questions were asked.

"It is always a pleasure to open the doors and welcome our neighbours and friends and it gives us a good opportunity to promote peace and love and remove any misunderstandings people may have and build good relations with them.”
