Gareth Price, known onstage as GAZ, has revealed plans to release his latest single The Muskerz Are Coming later in February.

The Hartlepool lad says the single is a reflection on life in deprived areas – ‘where doing things you shouldn't to get by, is just the way things are’.

The 27-year-old told the Mail: "I wrote the song a couple of years ago and it just seems very relevant in the times that we live in especially when you have all the stuff about police on the news. The song isn’t anti-police, it’s a reflection on the mentality of growing up around here.

"Everyone is in the same boat, everyone has to fight for their bit and sometimes you might not be a bad person, you might just have bad luck. That’s what the song is about."

At the start of 2020, Gareth spoke of his hope that the next 12 months would bring big things. Now he talks about what it’s been like building his music career during a worldwide pandemic.

"You just have to keep moving forwards you can’t just stop because the world’s stopped,” said Gareth.

"Obviously the gigs have gone which is the bread and butter for musicians, it’s what you live for, but I’ve taken it as time to reflect and plan for the future.

"I’ve used the time to build bridges with others and work with new people."

Now Gareth is eagerly waiting for the world to get back to some form of normality and can’t wait to get back on stage performing to live audiences.

"My gigs might just be me and my acoustic but no one is sat crying in the corner. It’s not like a library shushing each other because someone is singing. I’m not about that, I’d rather big pints getting shot about and people going mental,” added Gareth.

"When you’re playing in your bedroom and your phone is just watching you it’s not the same.”
