Hartlepool musician Michael Gallagher releases his second single ‘Lula’
Michael Gallagher, a musician who was born and raised in Hartlepool, has released his second single, titled Lula.
Friday, March 5, marked the release of Lula – the second single of Hartlepool musician Michael Gallagher.
His latest release is a fusion of contemporary indie rock and pop, a style he is fast becoming known for.
It comes fresh of the back of his debut track, Yesterday, which released in October last year and featured on BBC Introducing.
Despite the early success, Michael has looked back on how he developed his love for music.
He said: "It was my Nan who gave me my initial introduction to the music I like, she gave me a pile of CDs from the likes of David Bowie and The Rolling Stones.
"I was also given a guitar as a child so that music, along with the likes of Oasis and Razorlight, inspired me to pick it up and teach myself how to play.
"I then started playing in local pubs, getting a bit of a fan base and it was this community awareness that led me to write new songs with honest and observant lyrics."
He added: “Lula is a tongue in cheek tale about a one-night stand – an observation of a late-night encounter that most people will relate to.
“I wrote it a couple of days before heading into the studio, I wanted to write a catchy pop song and this is what I came up with.”
