Nicky Cockerill is already on the frontline of the coronavirus battle as a worker for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

But after finishing busy shifts, she has also been helping to deliver food parcels to doorsteps of the elderly, needy, vulnerable and those in isolation as a volunteer with Hartlepool Ambulance Charity.

As well as helping to deliver the food parcels, Nicky and her family have also given hundreds of pounds to help buy supplies.

“As well as delivering parcels she goes that little bit extra by having socially distanced chats with the people which makes all the difference.

“She is a really lovely person.”

Nicky and her family have made significant cash donations and she has been instrumental in gaining more donations from others.

“With her help alone she’s made absolutely sure that many of the town’s needy will continue to receive unexpected kindness,” added Jason.

The project is a joint effort between Hartlepool Ambulance Charity, Radio Hartlepool, and The Annexe community centre.

Parcels contain non perishable foods including tins, pasta biscuits and toiletries such as toilet rolls.

The drive has also secured support from Morrisons in Hartlepool which will provide food donations in addition to also helping Poolie Time Exchange and Hartlepool Foodbank.

Jason added: “We’re in out ninth week this week. With Morrisons support, it has guaranteed it will continue for at least another ten weeks.”

Anyone who wants to suggest someone to receive one of the parcels or would like to donate should get in touch via Facebook or Twitter.
