Hartlepool public thanked for supporting Mail-backed Christmas presents appeal in association with MKM Building Supplies

The Mail is supporting efforts by the town’s branch of MKM Building Supplies to donate hundreds of gifts to needy youngsters come December 25.

Scores of generous people have already contributed and there is still time for others to drop their gifts in.

Assistant branch manager Jane Plant, who is running the appeal at MKM, said: “We have had some great donations come in from people.

"It is heart warming to know that people in Hartlepool are so generous.”

MKM, which has run the annual appeal from its Burn Road premises for more than a decade, can continue accepting presents until Wednesday, December 17.

This will give staff enough time to match gifts with wish lists submitted by worthy causes or support agencies across town.

Gifts can be dropped off between 7.30am-5pm from Mondays-Fridays or from 7.30am-noon on Saturdays.

Please remember that presents should be new and unwrapped and aimed at youngsters aged between two and 16. Nor do they have to be large.

Selection boxes, sweets, clothes, games and even toiletries such as deodorants for older children are all appreciated.
