Pupils at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, in Hart Lane, took part in an out-of-uniform day to help raise money for a charity close to the school’s heart.

The youngsters wore outfits in blue for the day as they raised £350 for the One Hart, One Mind, One Future service within Hartlepool Young Carers.

Deputy headteacher Amanda Palmer said: “The actual service of One Hart, One Mind, One Future, is very close to us at the moment because we’ve had a significant increase in our pupils in the past year who have become young carers, so we thought that we would fundraise and support that particular organisation.

"I’m very proud of our students for raising this amount of money in one day and through one event only.”

“They’re very, very generous.”
