We asked Mail readers to tell us about someone who has helped them – whether it’s a neighbour, friend or someone else they know – during the difficult times.

Many of you got in touch via our Hartlepool Mail Facebook page, sending thank you messages to those who have delivered essential items, sent positive messages or gone out of their way to help out.

Here are some of your messages of thanks:

Stephanie Morgan: “Would like to thank Ange Hill. My mum is housebound and she is texting her every day so she doesn't feel so isolated. She has baked us cakes and waves as she leaves and comes back from work. Her smile is infectious and certainly brightens an old lady’s day.”

Sharon Taylor: “Jack Tindall and his dad. Jack is only 17 and has been helping out at food banks picking up donations and distributing them to the people that need them.”

Tun Villam: “Would like to say a very big thank you to Simon Willis and Margaret Gretton for their invaluable support and just being there as great neighbours during the lockdown all whilst still working as frontline workers. Simon who works at the Royal Mail and Margaret as a care worker at an elderly people’s home.”

Stephanie Ackroyd: “My brother Stuart Ackroyd and his lovely wife Sheila Ackroyd. I really wouldn't have got through this 11 weeks without them. From shopping, cooking my meals & delivering them, gardening & phone calls every day. They have supported me throughout this horrible time.”

Roz Rutherford: “Would thank Tracy Coverdale and family, they have gone above and beyond to help with shopping. They have been fantastic to me and another neighbour who are shielding.”
