Snooker players at the South Durham (Steelworks) Club in Westbourne Road presented the chemotherapy ward at the University Hospital of Hartlepool with about 30 boxes of chocolates and biscuits to enjoy over the festive period.

Club members raised the money by holding football cards and raffles which were well supported.

Dwane Douglas and Brian Minton from the club presented the huge collection to grateful nurses on the ward.

The club has a history of supporting local charities and good causes, including the chemotherapy ward and Hartlepool hospice, by staging events and fundraisers.

Earlier this year raised hundreds of pounds for the Cleveland branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association from a football reunion and from the club’s annual Christmas jumper night.
