They have already worked in the trust as medical students and have all volunteered to take up the posts to join the workforce at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

Director of medical education Dr Dolon Basu spoke to the group at the University Hospital of North Tees this week, and said: “You are now part of a medical fraternity – you are seen as a role model to society and we expect you to maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times.

“This will help you sail through your career and always provide the very best care to your patients.”

“Welcome to you all. We are delighted to have you here earlier than planned so you can be a part of this unprecedented effort.”

Later in the day, medical director and deputy chief executive Deepak Dwarakanath also welcomed the group to the organisation.

The doctors will all work as part of a team led by senior doctors, and will be supported by the foundation team, led by Dr Juliet Jude, Dr Julia Dunleavy and education staff.
