Hartlepool's Mill House Leisure Centre reopening delayed after pipe collapse under swimming pool
The Hartlepool Borough Council run centre was due to open again following lockdown on Wednesday, August 12.
But it will remain closed until further notice following the discovery of collapsed drainage pipes beneath the swimming pool.

It comes after the reopening of Brierton Sports Centre also had to be delayed when a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
The council is in the process of appointing a specialist contractor to carry out repairs to the Mill House centre on Raby Road.
Head of Leisure, Recreation and Participation Ian Gardiner said: “We are bitterly disappointed that we have had to postpone Wednesday’s much-anticipated re-opening after putting in so much work to get the building ready and ensure it was safe for customers and staff.

“However, the safety of staff and customers is our top priority and given the nature and scale of this issue we do not feel that we are able to re-open the centre until the repairs are completed.”
Brierton Sports Centre is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, August 12, after the staff member affected was quarantined for 14 days and the building deep cleaned.
Headland Sports Centre is set to open its doors again the week commencing Monday, August 17.
