People are invited to pay tribute to someone special who has died in 2020, Never Forgotten, a special dedication video featuring their photographs and dedications from their families.

Covid-19 has claimed many lives and also affected families’ ability to be with their loved ones with other conditions both in the hospice and other care settings.

People’s submissions will be included in the video that will be released online in time for Christmas.

Jan Grocott, from the Community Bereavement Counselling Service at Alice House, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has taken many things from many people this year.

"Sadly, for some bereaved people it may also have taken: the life of a loved one, our chance to be with our loved ones when they were poorly, the opportunity to say our final goodbyes, comfort that we would have gained from family and friends at the funeral and being able to spend time with family and friends who would listen to us and support us in grief.

“The death of a loved one is one of the most painful experiences we have to go through in life.

"Although there is no ‘normal’ or ‘right way’ to grieve, many people experiencing the death of a loved one this year are having to manage their grief in a different way.

“For some people the grieving process may have been suspended, held in limbo because even the thought of dealing with this trauma during these difficult and uncertain times may feel too overwhelming.

“Our community Bereavement Service is here to support you if you feel you would like to speak with us.”

The 2020, Never Forgotten appeal costs nothing to take part in and is open to anyone who has been bereaved during this year.

People can submit a picture of their loved one, along with an optional message.

The video will include all of the photos submitted before Friday, December 11, and an updated version will be released in early 2021 to feature any extra

dedications.
