This is not a definitive list of inspirational Hartlepool women but rather a snapshot of the undoubted talent produced and shaped by our town.
5. Gemma Lowe
Born in 1990, the former High Tunstall and English Martyrs school pupil represented Great Britain at swimming in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. Photo: John Walton
6. Frances Connolly
Former teacher Frances was born in Northern Ireland but lived in Hartlepool for 25 years. She founded the PFC Trust after she and her husband Patrick won £114.9m on the EuroMillions lottery in 2019. Photo: Nigel Roddis
7. Sue Davies
Sue Davies was presented with an award by the Oddfellows, which is one of the UK’s oldest and largest societies, for her dedication to the community. Sue was hailed a winner of the Working in the Spirit of Mutuality category of the Making a Difference Awards, which celebrates those who go above and beyond to improve the lives of their fellow members and their society. 8. Laura Llewellyn
Hartlepool expat, Laura Llewellyn, launched a successful bridal business in the US and has had her business featured in a number of esteemed publications including Elle Magazine and Harper’s Bazaar.
