These children are showing the way forward with their fantastic attitude to cleaning the streets.
Their families are a part of the ever-growing Big Town Tidy Up group on Facebook which has more than 1,000 members. There’s plenty of space for more to join up.
In the meantime, let’s take a look at the children who are showing us all how being a litter picker is cool.
Read their stories, and also find out how you can become a member of Big Town Tidy Up.
1. Say hello to William and Violet
William and Violet McKelvie are super keen litter pickers and no-one could be more proud than mum Ellen.
William, 7, is on the eco team at West Park Primary School and has been appointed as an ‘eco-warrior.’ .
Both he and Violet, 6, 'get really upset at the amount of rubbish near where we live, especially in Ward Jackson Park', said mum. Photo: ugc
2. So proud of these litter pickers
Dad Gary Allen could not be more proud of his children Daisy 11, and George 8. Both go to West Park Primary School and Daisy starts at High Tunstall College of Science in September. Gary told us: "Both enjoy doing litter picks and ask when they can do it next." Photo: ugc
3. We love your work, Kai
Mum Debbie Marsh told us: " I am very proud of my son Kai.
"He started by clearing litter in our street. I bought him a litter picker and he asked his school Barnard Grove if he could help tidy around the school premises.
"They got him a badge that said litter picker manager and he was over the moon. Him and two other children gave up their break times to collect litter. Kai is autistic and loves the fact he is doing something to help the town."
That's an outstanding effort Kai. Photo: ugc
4. Fantastic work from Freya
Proud mum Kim Johnson told us: "My daughter Freya and I have been litter picking for a couple of years now."
Freya is nine and 'would love to be recognised for her hard work', said mum.
We thank her for her superb litter picking efforts. Photo: ugc
