Ben, 12, and Dylan Turnbull, 13, are putting their fitness and endurance to the ultimate test next month to raise money for charity.

The brothers will be tackling four triathlons in four countries in a day at Belfast, Stranraer, Carlisle and Wrexham. Each triathlon will include a 750 metre swim, 21 kilometre bike ride and a five kilometre run.

They then face a journey of 2.5 hours to Carlisle to complete their third triathlon. Once it is over, they face another three hour journey to Buckley in North Wales for the last of their challenges which they should start at about 10pm.

The boys have a Just Giving page for anyone wanting to sponsor their mega effort. Proud dad Matt Turnbull, who runs the Tri Life Warriors club in Hartlepool which he founded four years ago, explained more about the challenge.

He said: “They are attempting to be the first people, let alone kids, to complete a full distance adult triathlon in all four home nations in only one day.

“It is a massive logistical nightmare with ferries and transport, but they are tough enough to give this a go. It will be over 17 hours worth of racing and travelling if we are able to complete it.

“They are raising funds for the Dogs Trust and in the memory of our own pet Pepper that passed away in 2017.”

Matt, who will also be tackling the course, is no stranger for mega challenges.

Less than three years ago, in July 2017, he managed to complete an amazing seven Iron Man challenges in as many days.

The challenge saw him carry out an incredible 784 miles of cycling, 16.8 miles of swimming and 183.4 miles of running, to raise funds for charity Tiny Lives.
