A search was launched by Cleveland Police and Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team following reports that a child was missing in the area of Seaton Beach on Sunday, August 9.

The police helicopter was involved in the search, along with Hartlepool beach lifeguards and Seaham Coastguard.

Following a search of the area the child was found safe and well.

A Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team spokesman said: “While out on local patrol the vehicle was flagged down by local police officers to reports of a missing child in the vicinity of Seaton Beach.

"The coastguard officers on duty quickly informed our operations room and requested the rest of the team be paged along with Seaham Coastguard to assist Cleveland Police with the search.

"After a comprehensive search of the area the child was located safe and well.”
