Newly renovated tennis club set to reopen

Hartlepool Tennis Club in partnership with Caldeira Tennis will be hosting an open day for members of the community on Saturday, January 11, 2020, from 2pm to 6pm.
Local dignitaries are scheduled to attend as well as the Lawn Tennis Association. But the tennis club really wants to encourage members of the community to attend the event and trial their taster sessions which are running until April. These taster sessions allow participants to get their first session for free.

Hide AdTennis coach, Jose Carlos Caldeira, said: “We want to make tennis more affordable and accessible for the community.

“Our aim is to help improve people’s lives through sport and we want to engage with local clubs and schools.
“We’re a family venue, and run sessions for all ages from tots to adult classes – any age can get involved.
“Tennis has no age limit.”
New system updates allow for members of the community to access the tennis courts whenever they want – simply book on the website and a pass code will be sent electronically, which can be used to access the court.

Carlos added: “We’re a family based club, and we want to encourage parents to come and try it as well.
“They can see if their kids are feeling confident and happy at sessions and we really want to encourage them to stay and have some fun too.”
A programme set up by the club, called Tennis For Kids, sees that for £30 a child will get a tennis racket, personalised t-shirt, tennis balls and six weeks of coaching.
Caldeira Tennis have confirmed that the tennis courts are ready to be played on, despite the paint work being unfinished. The lines are in place, but finishing touches will be added in April when weather conditions have improved.
