Hartlepool Borough Council suspended the parking charges at the start of the lockdown to help key workers and those supporting the vulnerable during the pandemic.

Following the easing of lockdown, the charges came into effect again on Monday, July 6, and include those at Middleton Grange shopping centre.

The council said: “Anyone wanting to use a Council-operated ‘pay and display’ car park or on-street parking space will, from that date, have to pay the standard charges indicated for the site.”

The authority is also asking motorists to use the RingGo app to pay over the phone rather than using cash to reduce touching of parking machines and the chance of cross contamination.

Middleton Grange is offering all day parking for £2.50 in the Open Market and Back York Road car parks but the multi-storey remains closed until further notice.
