Search to find missing man as police become increasingly concerned for his welfare

A search is ongoing to find a 38-year-old man who was last seen leaving an address in Wingate on Friday morning (August 14).

Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of Peter Atkinson.

A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “It is believed Mr Atkinson may have travelled to Northumbria.

“He is described as being around 5ft 8 with short dark and a beard. He is thought to be wearing a blue waterproof coat and carrying a black backpack.”
