The Hartlepool youngster is a huge supporter of Miles for Men despite her tender years.

And when the town charity wanted to find a slider board – which is used to help people to move from one surface to another – it was Katherine who stepped in.

She gave up £20 of her Easter money so Miles for Men could buy a brand new board for a man with cancer.

Katherine’s grandmother Angela Defty said: “It is typical of her. She never asks for anything. She has used her birthday money in the past to make Christmas sweets for Miles for Men.

“She did a bake sale in the Miles for Men shop which raised £139 before the lockdown. She is so kind and well behaved.”

Katherine’s mum Sara Atkinson said: “She is always trying to help others and she never likes to see anyone hurt.”
