The youngsters dropped off their donations to grateful workers at Hartlepool Foodbank’s distribution centre in Church Street.

Coordinator Lisa Lavender said they will go a long way to helping those in need, especially during this difficult time for people.

She said: “These donations are going to feed a lot of people in need.

“Between Daniel and Faith it will total around 380 meals, which is quite a substantial amount.

“We would just like to say a huge thank you to both of them.”

Hartlepool Foodbank remains open for supporters to leave donations at the rear of its headquarters in Church Street between 11.30am and 1.30am every Tuesday and Friday.

Clients are currently unable to visit to receive food parcels due to the coronavirus restrictions but the food bank is providing a delivery service thanks to a recent partnership between the Trussell Trust, which runs the Hartlepool and other food banks, and British Gas.

People and businesses have continued to be extremely generous despite the worrying times we are living in.

Tesco’s supermarket and Hartlepool charity Miles for Men are just two local organisations that have recently given substantial donations of food to the cause.

Lisa said earlier: “I’m not surprised at the level of support we are seeing but it has been overwhelming.

“Historically, the community of Hartlepool have been very generous.”
