11 pictures as Hartlepool falls silent to honour Remembrance Day

Hartlepool came to a standstill as people marked Remembrance Day across the town.

Shoppers, local workers and veterans observed the annual two minutes silence at 11am today, Wednesday November 11, to remember all those who have given their lives in service of their country.

Social distancing and the wearing of facemasks once again provided a reminder of the coronavirus restrictions, but the act of remembrance was still well supported.

Several veterans organisations attended the war memorial in Victory Square and lowered their standards in a dignified sign of respect.

People and staff in Middleton Grange shopping centre also stopped to observe the occasion as did schools and work places all over the town and the country.
