Two men arrested as part of major Hartlepool sex attacks inquiry released on bail

Two men arrested following a lengthy police inquiry into alleged sex attacks have been released on bail.

Cleveland Police confirmed on Thursday, December 10, that a 25-year-old man was detained on suspicion of rape and a 45-year-old man was detained on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault “following a three-month investigation reportedly involving a number of adult female victims”.

The force said that searches were being carried out on Thursday at a “commercial premises” on York Road, in Hartlepool, as part of the investigation.

Today, (Friday) police have confirmed that the two men arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
