Plans for a wider neighbourhood of 570 homes by Bellway and Miller Homes off Merlin Way, Hartlepool, were conditionally approved by Hartlepool Borough Council in February this year.

The planning agreement will see the housebuilders investing more than £2.3 million in local infrastructure and facilities.

Bellway’s development, which will be called Hartwell Park, will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroomed homes, and include a public open space and play area.

As well as providing 303 private homes, the scheme will also include 67 affordable homes available through shared ownership or rent.

A new roundabout on the A179 will provide access to the development.

Oliver Wray, sales manager for Bellway Durham, said: “Following the planning deal for Hartwell Park being agreed, we aim to start construction work on site imminently.

“This will enable us to deliver much-needed private and affordable new housing to Hartlepool.

"The demand for new homes in this area has been evident with over 100 interested buyers already signed up to receive updates about the development.

“Hartwell Park will provide a range of homes to suit a mix of buyers from first-time buyers to families of various sizes.

With construction now set to begin, the first homes are expected to be released for sale this summer.
