Police find cash, drugs and weapons in Hartlepool raid

Two men have been been arrested after police officers have uncovered drugs, weapons and thousands of pounds in cash from a house in Hartlepool.

Police executing a drugs warrant found two machetes as they searched a property in Mariners Point on Monday, February 8.

Suspected cocaine and cannabis plus around £3,000 in cash was also seized at the address.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, concerned in the supply of class B drugs and possession of criminal property.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Inspector Steve Kappell, from the Community Drugs Enforcement Team, said: “What you see here is what we as officers could be confronted with whilst trying to protect our communities.

“These two machetes could potentially be used as lethal weapons. We are pleased to have removed them from the streets of Cleveland.

“We would always welcome any intelligence regarding drugs activity.

"Please contact police if you have any information which could assist us in taking drugs off the streets.

"Drug activity can blight communities and for some can make their lives a misery.”
