Police have cordoned off road in Hartlepool town centre

A cordon is in place after police received a report a woman has been raped in Hartlepool town centre.

A rape investigation has been launched following reports a woman was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A manhunt is under way to locate a male suspect who made off on York Road following the incident near the junction with Lucan Street and Middleton Grange Lane.

A cordon remains in place in Middleton Grange Lane and a police car is at the scene.
