Police probe Hartlepool bus attack

Police are investigating after yobs threw a missile at a bus smashing a window where a female passenger was sitting.

Six people were on the number 7 Stagecoach service in Kilmarnock Road, Hartlepool, when an unknown object was aimed at it.

The incident happened when the bus was at a bus stop in the road just before 9pm on Tuesday night.

The woman who was next to the window when it smashed complained of ringing in her ears but declined medical attention.

A Stagecoach spokesman said: “One female passenger was sat next to the window when it smashed and she declined any medical attention.

“The engineers reported that the window had shattered but they were able to remove it from the frame with just a small hole missing.

“The incident was reported to police in Hartlepool, reference number 11297 and any CCTV will be downloaded as part of investigation.”

A Cleveland Police spokesman confirmed they are investigating the incident as a case of criminal damage.

There have been ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour by youths in the Owton Manor area.

Last week, police issued a dispersal order for the Manor House area for 48 hours giving them power to move on troublemakers.
