A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: "Following the sad discovery of a body in Hartlepool Marina, we would like to thank all those organisations who contributed to our search efforts over the past few days. These include Hartlepool RNLI, the Coastguard and Hartlepool Marina management."

The body has yet to be formally identified. However, police say the family of Mr Roy, who had been reported missing on Friday, have been made aware of the find.

Cleveland Police spent the weekend using divers from the Police Marine Unit to search the water. Also involved in the operation was the RNLI, HM Coastguard and the fire service.
