The Brexit Party’s leader and chairman have brought their campaign to Hartlepool with less than three weeks to go until next month’s General Election.

Nigel Farage and Richard Tice, who is standing for MP in the town, arrived on Saturday, November 23 and took their Brexit Party bus to a number of locations.

Trailed by a scrum of media, the men met with voters, visited local businesses and even found time for a brew during a stop at Middleton Grange Indoor Market.

Mr Farage picked up a caramel shortbread and a Christmas card for his mum, while Mr Tice received support from shoppers going about their day.

Charlie Masey, 70, told the Mail that he would be voting for the Brexit Party – and told the candidate that the town was “ripe for the taking”.

The pensioner added that Mr Tice would be the “breath of fresh air” that Hartlepool needs.

Mr Masey said: “[Tice] stands for the Brexit I voted for, which is a clean break.

“My reasons for voting Brexit were nothing to do with immigration, it was the vast amounts of money we were giving to unelected bureaucrats.”

Mr Tice and Mr Farage made a number of stops in Hartlepool on Saturday, November 23 to speak to voters and to the media.

The campaign trail then took the men to the King Johns Tavern, where they carried out more interviews, before they took to the streets to meet the community.

Mr Farage last visited Hartlepool on Armistice Day, when he held at press conference at the town's Grand Hotel.

During it, he revealed his party’s focus for the forthcoming election would be to contest Labour-held seats – calling for “seismic change” in the party’s stronghold constituencies.

Mr Tice announced his Hartlepool candidacy on Thursday, November 7.

He hailed the town as one of his party’s key targets in next month’s election, which is now less than three weeks away.

Hartlepool voted to Leave by 69.6% in 2016’s EU Referendum.

Following Saturday’s visit, Mr Farage will visit Easington on Sunday, November 24 with the Brexit Party bus.

As in Hartlepool, it will make a number of stops in and around Easington where the Brexit Party leader and its candidate for the constituency, Julie Maughan, will speak to residents.

The Labour Party's Grahame Morris has been the constituency’s MP since 2010.
